[Doubles Final]
○Hugo Nys (MON) / Édouard Roger-Vasselin (FRA) [2] 7-5, 7-5 ●Rohan Bopanna (IND) / Takeru Yuzuki JPN)
■Both sets unfolded in similar fashion. Tied at 5-5 in each set, Bopanna’s service games at 5-5 reached deuce (40-40). In the no-ad scoring system used in doubles, the next point — the deciding point — determines the game. Unfortunately for Yuzuki/Bopanna, they failed to win the5 key points in both sets and suffered costly breaks.
In the first set, they managed to create chances when returning at 5-6, but couldn't convert them into a break. “There were balls barely clearing the net, aggressive returns on second serves — I just couldn’t finish those with my volleys,” Yuzuki said with visible frustration. “My lack of decisive volleys led to this result, and it's incredibly frustrating,” he added at the start of the press conference.
Still, Yuzuki found perspective: “I’m happy with the runner-up finish. Being frustrated despite coming second means I’m growing as a player.” His performance will now push his doubles world ranking into the top 100 for the first time. Going forward, he plans to continue competing in Challenger events while eyeing opportunities on the main tour, with a goal of reaching the Australian Open doubles main draw next year.
