【2025/9/29】Fritz Powers into Final with Straight-Sets Win

[Singles Semifinal]
○Taylor Fritz (USA) [2]  6-4, 6-3  ●Jenson Brooksby (USA)

■Taylor Fritz booked his place in the final with a solid straight-sets victory over fellow American, Jenson Brooksby.
Brooksby’s powerful shots gave Fritz a tough time, particularly in rallies where Brooksby moved him side to side with clever combinations of cross-court and down-the-line shots.
"He was playing really well—it was tough to keep up," said Fritz. Still, he held his ground in extended rallies and often came out on top.

■The turning point in the first set came at 4-4. Fritz faced two break points in the ninth game but relied on his powerful serves to escape danger. In the ninth game, Brooksby faltered under pressure, mixing winners with unforced errors, allowing Fritz to secure the first break of the match.

■In the second set, Fritz capitalized on a break in the fourth game and never looked back, using his strong serving to maintain control."My serve helped me a lot today. I was serving really well, and his occasional errors also gave me a boost," Fritz reflected. He hit 13 aces over the two sets and racked up many “free points” with his serve, conserving energy along the way.

■Fritz's press conference took place while the other semifinal was underway. He didn’t plan to watch the match, saying "I’ve played both of them many times, so I know their games well. I’ll need to play aggressively no matter who I face."
He added "If it’s Ruud, I can plan when to attack. But with Alcaraz, I will have to strike first—otherwise, he’ll take control."
A more aggressive Fritz is likely to emerge in the final against Alcaraz.
